Weekend Games

Alright, I'm not going to continue with this "Good Games on Better Consoles" crap, I'm going to give a review on a game I played this weekend. What I am going to comment are two separate games. The first is "Violet Assassin" for Xbox 360. I rented it two weekends ago, and played it for about half an hour before turning it off and never playing it again.
It was horrible. The controls were awful, the stealth segments were dumb and the control were never quick enough, and I had trouble remembering them. The only upside was they gave me a poster when I rented it, but the poster was lame anyways so I just threw it out.
The next game was the one based off the movie, "X Men Origins: Wolverine." I watched the movie, and found it interesting and satisfying enough to want to add it to my extensive DVD collection. However, compared to the game, the movie was crap. The game is godlike, although it is required to watch the movie to understand the game, due to plot segments and constant time-line switching.
Like I said, it would be confusing without first watching the movie. I don't want to give away ANY of the plot, so I'll just have to work with game play. Now, in the movie Wolvie's claws were somewhat of a disappointment. They looked totally CGI animated, and the combat wasn't very fluid. In the game, the claws are highly detailed, and don't look like a stupid CGI add on.
Also, the combat is very vivid and smooth, and not nearly as choppy as the movie. You also get to use Feral Sense, which helps you proceed through the game by seeing objects you can interact with. The coolest part of the game is Wolverines regeneration factor, and how gory game play can get. In on instance, I was getting shot up with a turret.
Bullets where ripping through his body, leaving bullet holes, and I was being shot in the face, exposing skull. By the time I ended the gunner, my chest was a mass of blood and flesh, and I looked like the terminator. However, within seconds the wounds healed, and all that was left was his torn shirt and some left over blood. I find that to be a really cool factor. In conclusion, I would definitely recommend this game.
It was amazing, the combat was intense and filled a lot of plot holes that the movie left behind.
If you need help with a game, just ask.

  1. Why does he "regenerate" health? Wouldn't he be dead? If I had my face ripped of I would.. But y'know.. It's a video game. It does sound like a good game though.. But all it does is sucker you into watching the movie or Vice-versa.
